Folklore Museum of Polygyros

The Folklore Museum of Polygyros began its operation in 1998. It is housed in the renovated two-story residence of the former mayor of Polygyros, Ath. Karaganis, who donated it for this purpose.

The exhibits are donations from the residents and citizens of Polygyros. On the ground floor, visitors can experience the agricultural tools used for ploughing, sowing, reaping, threshing and threshing as well as traditional clothing.

On the first floor, the visitor has the opportunity to see the interior of a 19th century town house with reception rooms (living room with sofas and low round tables, dining room, etc.), bedrooms (with metal beds, wardrobes and bed linen), living room, kitchen (with all cooking appliances, boilers, pans, fireplace).

The traditional loom is set up in a separate room. Authentic uniforms of the wider area of Polygyros are displayed in various corners of the house, while the office of the mayor Karaganis was also recently remodeled.

The museum operates with the care and love of the members of the Polygyro Women’s Volunteer Group and the Polygyro Municipal Enterprise.
